Dr. Katie McDermott - VMD, CVA, CVFT
Dr Katie McDermott is certified in both Veterinary Acupuncture and Food Therapy through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Dr Katie McDermott graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After graduation, she worked in a small animal hospital in Maryland in the United States, providing preventative and emergency veterinary care and veterinary surgery. In 2016, she completed the Small Animal Acupuncture course at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Florida, USA. Dr Katie McDermott then moved to New Jersey, USA to work in a small animal hospital practicing integrative medicine, where she used her skills in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine combined with conventional veterinary medicine to help heal her patients. She then completed the TCVM Diagnostics, Classical Points and Advanced Acupuncture Techniques course at the Chi Institute in 2017, where she earned her certification as a Veterinary Acupuncturist. Dr. Katie McDermott then opened her own mobile veterinary practiced called Whole Pet Acupuncture and Integrative Wellness, offering house-call appointments offering Acupuncture, Food Therapy, and Chinese Herbal Medicine services to pets in New Jersey, USA. In 2018, Dr. Katie McDermott completed the Veterinary Food Therapy course at the Chi Institute and shortly after earned her certification as a Veterinary Food Therapist. She is currently pursuing certification in Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr. Katie McDermott’s strong background in conventional medicine combined with her skills in TCVM, allows her to provide her patients with the best treatments possible and she is excited to be bringing these skills to Hong Kong! When Dr. Katie is not working, she enjoys practicing yoga, cooking and traveling, hiking and camping with her husband (Dr. Colin McDermott) and their pets.
