Dr. Colin McDermott is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong. He achieved board certification as an ABVP Reptile and Amphibian Practice specialist in 2021. He is also a certified aquatics veterinarian through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he attended exotic animal-focused training programs at the University of Pennsylvania and at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD, USA. He worked in private practice for 3 years at an emergency and specialty hospital in New Jersey, USA establishing their exotic animal medicine and surgery service before moving to Hong Kong in 2019 to work at Zodiac Pet and Exotic Hospital.
Dr. Colin loves working with all species of exotic animals, but has a strong interest in reptiles, amphibians and fish. He has contributed to book chapters and scientific articles on exotic companion animals and enjoys giving lectures locally and internationally to veterinarians and veterinary students about these species. When he isn’t working, Dr. Colin enjoys photography, traveling and exploring new places with his wife.
